Let's be honest...
When you hear the word library, you probably picture shelves of books, whispered conversations, and someone giving you "the look" if you sneeze too loudly.
Foley's brand-new library?
It's rewriting that story.
Opening Tuesday, August 4, the new Foley Public Library is nearly twice the size of the previous location and packed with spaces designed for learning, creativity, technology, and community—not just checking out books.
More Than Just a Library
This beautiful new 40,000-square-foot facility is built to bring people together.
Inside, you'll find:
- A dedicated Children's Story Grove
- Separate activity spaces for children and teens
- A STEAM/STEM learning lab
- A sensory room
- A large multipurpose room that seats up to 277 people
- A second-floor porch overlooking the Perry Wilbourne Antique Rose Trail and the city dog park
In other words...
This isn't just a place to borrow books.
It's a place to explore, create, learn, meet, and connect.
Grand Opening Fun
The celebration begins at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 4, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the library's new home, 230 E. Orange Avenue.
After the ribbon is cut, the doors open for a full day of family-friendly fun.
Visitors can tour the building, participate in a scavenger hunt, enjoy hands-on activities, browse the new spaces, and let the kids take part in story times, crafts, and a bookmark contest throughout the day.
Another Win for Foley
One of the things that makes Foley special is its continued investment in quality of life.
New parks.
New restaurants.
New neighborhoods.
An indoor aquatics center.
And now, a state-of-the-art public library that will serve residents for generations to come.
Projects like this aren't just buildings—they're investments in education, families, and the community.
Whether you're introducing your child to their first library card, looking for a quiet place to work, attending a class, or simply enjoying a good book, this new library has something for everyone.
So if it's been a while since you've visited a library...
This is the perfect time to turn the page.
The next chapter of Foley starts August 4.
